Unlike my husband, I am not an avid coffee drinker. I enjoy the occasional sugar-filled coffee drink, but my husband is something of a coffee snob. It is no secret that the coffee aboard the Disney ships is less than ideal. It is basic at best and insufferable at worst, depending on who you ask. This is definitely a “first world” problem, but you would be surprised how many times it is brought up on Disney Cruise forums. So if you can’t survive without coffee and are unwilling to suffer through bland coffee, what options do you have? Let’s talk about a few!
1. The Cove Cafe
Disney has a great coffee spot aboard their ships called the Cove Cafe. Here, you can find all kinds of specialty drinks. My husband and I both enjoy an occasional treat from the Cove, but the cost does add up if you’re a daily coffee drinker.
2. Room/Dining Service
It is commonly said that the coffee served in the dining rooms and through room service is better than the self-service coffee found in Cabanas and the pool deck. Just keep in mind it may not be “free” depending on what you order, and be sure to tip if you order room service.
3. DIY
Wait, what!? How is DIY coffee even possible on a cruise? My husband decided he could no longer endure the free coffee and didn’t want to spend extra money on Cafe coffee every day. Consequently, he decided to start bringing his own sealed bag of ground coffee (that part is essential for it being approved to bring onboard) and a frenchpress. He uses the self-serve hot water in Cabanas and makes his own every morning with no issues!
So there you have it! 3 ways to circumvent the bad Disney coffee situation on Disney Cruise Line. Have you tried any of these options? Let me know what has worked for you! As always, happy sailing!
